How To Install Mathematica

Current students, faculty and staff at SNC are able to download and receive a license for Wolfram Mathematica.

You will need to do three things in order to set up Mathematica on your device:

  1. Create a Wolfram ID
  2. Fill out the Wolfram Activation Key Request Form
  3. Download and install Mathematica

Create a Wolfram ID

If you have never used Mathematica before you will likely need to first create a Wolfram ID. To create an ID fill out the form at the link below:

Wolfram ID form

You should use your SNC email as the email address for your Wolfram ID. Once you have filled out the form, you should receive a verification email. Click the link in the email to verify your email address.

Fill out the Wolfram Activation Key Request Form

After you have a Wolfram ID, you will be able to request a key for the software. There is one link for students and one for faculty and staff. Click on the relevant link below:

You should be still logged in to your Wolfram ID if you followed the steps above, but if you are asked to log in, use your Wolfram ID. The key request form will ask for the department/discipline you are using this for. You do not need to fill out the Notes/Machine Name field, you can leave the Product and Version fields alone.

After clicking submit, the next page will display your Activation Key and allow you to download the Mathematica installer by clicking on Product Summary page. If you accidentally close this page, you will also receive an email with this same information.

Download and Install Mathematica

Clicking on Product Summary page (or the link in your email you just received) will bring you to the Wolfram User Portal. Click on Get Downloads and then the Download button next to the Mathematica Download Manager for either Mac or Windows, then click Start Download

Open on the installer that you downloaded and follow the instructions on-screen. After the install is completed, open Mathematica. When Mathematica asks you for an Activation Key, you can enter the key from the Product Summary page, or the email you received from Wolfram earlier.

After entering the key and clicking Activate, you should be all set.
