How to sign in to the Eviews shared computer

 

Mac Users:

Install Microsoft Remote Desktop from the App Store.

 

Open Microsoft Remote Desktop.  You can open the application by searching for it with Spotlight.  Once you found the application, click on it, or hit the enter/return key on your keyboard.

Click on “Add PC” (if it’s the first PC you’ve added), or you can click on the “+” button, then click “Add PC”.

Next to PC Name, enter: eviews.knight.domains
Next to User Account, change the dropdown menu to “Add User Account…”

Enter your username, and the password provided in the email.  Then click “Add”

Click “Add”.

Double click on the machine to start your connection.

When prompted with a message saying "You are connecting to the RDP host "eviews.knight.domains". The certificate couldn't be verified back to the certificate. Your connection may not be secure.  Do you want to continue?", click "Continue".  You will then be brought into the computer.

Windows Users:

You already have Remote Desktop Connection installed. Open your start menu and search for Remote Desktop Connection then open the application.

In the “Computer” field enter eviews.knight.domains.Then click “Connect

In the window that appears, select “More choices”, then “Use a different account. Then enter the credentials for eviews.knight.domains that you received via email, NOTE: if you are using a college owned computer make sure to start with a period and a backslash (ex: .\jadita). Make sure to click the “Remember me” checkbox to save this username and password.

In subsequent logins, this window should not appear and you can move on to the next step.

If asked “Do you trust this remote connection?” check the box next to “Don’t ask me again for connections to this computer” and click Connect

If you are presented with the warning “The identity of the remote computer cannot be verified. Do you want to connect anyway?” check the box next to “Don’t ask me again for connections to this computer” and click Yes.

The first time you log in to eviews.knight.domains, we recommend changing your password:

 

Click on the Start Menu, then your (empty) account picture, then Change account settingsmceclip12.png 

In the window that appears, select, Sign-in options, then under “Change your account password,” click Change.

You will then be asked to enter your existing password for eviews.knight.domains and click Next.mceclip14.png

Next, enter the new password you would like to use two times, provide a password hint (don’t make it a good hint!) and click Next.

Finally, click Finish.
