After logging in, you are repeatedly prompted to unlock the "Local Items" keychain in multiple apps or you may might encounter multiple other keychain related popups upon login
Local Items Keychain is locked
Follow these steps to prevent prompts to unlock the Local Items keychain.
For SNC Owned computers:
- Open the “Self Service” App
- You can find this by going to Finder, then Applications and double clicking on “Self Service”
- Click the Reset button under “Reset Keychain”
- Click the reset button in the window that pops up
For Personally Owned Computers:
- In Finder Select Go > Go to folder…
- In the window that appears, type the following:
~/Library/Keychains/ - Click OK.
- Look for a folder with a name similar to this "A8F5E7B8-CEC1-4479-A7DF-F23CB076C8B8". Note: Each folder has a unique number.
- Move this folder to the Trash.
- Immediately choose Apple Menu > Restart… to restart your Mac.
- Uncheck the box for “Reopen current applications”
Prompted for Password for Login Keychain
You may be prompted to enter in your password for a Login Keychain.
For SNC Owned Computers:
- Open the “Self Service” App
- You can find this by going to Finder, then Applications and double clicking on “Self Service”
- Click the Reset button under “Reset Keychain”
- Click the reset button in the window that pops up
For Personally Owned Computers:
- Using Spotlight (magnifying glass, top right corner of the screen) type in "Keychain Access"
- In Keychain Access, choose Preferences from the Keychain Access menu.
- If available, click the Reset My Default Keychain button. This will remove the login keychain and create a new one with the password provided.
- If Reset My Default Keychain is not available, choose Keychain List from the Edit menu.
- Delete the "login" keychain.
