How to Install Wordpress

Visit knight.domains and click on Dashboard to log in.

Once you are logged in to the Dashboard, under “Applications” look for WordPress.

Click on WordPress. You will be redirected to the Installatron. In order to install this application to your domain, click on “Install this Application.”

This will take you to a page that requires some information to be filled out. Not every field is required but there are some that are strongly recommended that you change to better suit your site.

For your personal information:

  • Under “Location” there is an option for your Directory. WordPress automatically places “blog” in that box. This would mean that your website would be “yourwebsitename.com/blog.” To avoid this, delete the word “blog.”

*Warning: if you are installing WordPress on a subdomain, be sure to click on the drop down menu and select the domain name that indicates your subdomain. (Leaving it set to your root domain will result in your domain being replaced.)

Scroll down to Settings where it says “Administrator Username.”

  • The username and password given is randomly generated. Come up with your own username and your own password that you will remember in the future. (Remember to write this information down in a safe place so you are able to refer back to it.)

Your website title and tagline can be changed but will also be able to be changed at a later time.

Once you have completed these steps, click on   at the bottom of the page to officially install WordPress to your domain.

Allow WordPress a minute to install to your domain. Once it is completed, you will be taken to a very generic version of WordPress.

To begin editing your new site, click on the second link that is listed that includes “/wp-admin/”

The “/wp-admin/” means that you are granted administrator access. In the future, by typing “yourwebsitename.com/wp-admin/" you will be taken to a login page.

Clicking on this link and logging in to your WordPress account will redirect you to your Dashboard. This is the place in which you will be able to edit and customize your website. You will be able to create new posts, new pages, upload media to your site, and so much more.

Congrats on having successfully installed WordPress!
