As an instructor, you can give extra credit in the following ways: creating a zero point assignment, adding points to an existing assignment, in Speedgrader, adding within a rubric, and adding within a rubric on Speedgrader.
1. Create a Zero Point Assignment
Go to the course that you would like to add the extra credit to and navigate to "Assignments" on the left hand navigation.
Click on "+Assignment":
Title your assignment "Extra Credit" or something more detailed and specific to your course (1). Change the number of points to zero (2). Change the submission type to "No Submission" (3).
Scroll down and click "Save and Publish":
To enter the number of points you wish to grant for extra credit, use the same steps for grading an assignment.

4. Adding Extra Points within a Rubric
You can edit a rubric that is attached to an assignment or add a brand new rubric to an assignment and add a section for extra credit.

You can edit the rubric and "+Criterion" to add a line for extra credit. Edit the total number of extra credit points you are willing to award and select "update rubric". Double check that the Total points in the rubric equals the amount of total points of the assignment plus the amount of extra credit you are willing to give.
