If you created a Zoom event for your class and have been using this Zoom event to automatically record class sessions, you’ll see those recordings stored in your Canvas Studio Library. To view these recordings in Canvas, click on Studio in the Global Navigation Column.
Follow the instructions below to add these videos to your course, for student viewing.
Videos can be added as a module item, OR can be added directly to any area in Canvas using the Rich Content Editor (ex: assignment, discussion, page, etc.)
Adding as a Module Item
- In course navigation, click the Modules link.
- Navigate to the Module where you would like to add your video.
** If needed, see What is a Module? for assistance on how to add a new module. Modules are a good way to present course content in a logical and sequential manner, so, you may want to present all course recordings in a module.
- Click the gray + button.
- In the drop-down menu, select External Tool.
- Click the Studio tool.
- Find the media you want to embed, then click the Select button.
- (Recommended) Uncheck Display media tabs, and Check Display download option. This lets your students download the video for later viewing if they are unable to stream it.
- Click the blue Embed button.
- Click the Add Item button.
You should now see the video added as a resource in the module. Go ahead and click the video link to test things out. For additional information see “How do I add a Canvas Studio media module item in a Canvas course as an Instructor?”
Adding Using the Rich Content Editor
If you would like to add your video directly to an assignment, discussion, or page, follow these directions.
- Navigate to the course item where you would like to add the video, whether that be an assignment, discussion or course page.
- Click the Edit button, to edit that item.
- Locate the area with the Rich Content Editor and click the Studio icon.
- Continue following steps 6 - 8 above.
You should now see the video added in your course item. Go ahead and save, and click the video link to test things out. For additional information see “How do I embed Canvas Studio media in a Canvas course using a Chrome or Edge Browser?”
