Instructors often encounter situations where students require additional time to complete a quiz/exam or attempts due to accommodations or special circumstances. These accommodations can be set up in both New Quizzes or Classic Quizzes. You also will likely need to modify the time these students can access the quiz/exam and can use this article to do so.
New Quizzes
1. Locate the quiz you would like to modify for a student to receive additional time and click on it.
2. Scroll down and click on "Build"
3. Click on "Moderate" found in the upper left hand side of the screen
4. Find the student that needs the modification and click "Moderate"
5. Additional attempts and/or additional time can be added for the student.
To add attempts, click on the up arrow to allow more.
To give more time, click on the drop down box for more options:
By selecting "Give Additional Time" you are adding the amount of time ON TOP of the original amount of time. For example, if you have your quiz/exam set to a one hour time limit, but the student receives time and a half as an accommodation, you would add 30 minutes to the time they receive:
6. After closing the pop out, verify that the accommodations are correct:
Your accommodations will be assigned only to the students who you set up.
(Note: If your student is taking the exam at a time that is different from their peers, be sure to set up permission for them to do so. Instructions can be found here)
