If you want your students to take a quiz through Canvas using Respondus Lockdown Browser, complete the following steps.

Share this article with your students and instruct them to download the Respondus Lockdown Browser (Please note: If you plan on using Respondus with the added monitor, students will need to pay for this feature. The link to student directions to pay for this feature is here)

In order for students to use Respondus in a way similar to how they used it in Moodle, it is recommended that your quizzes are a "New Quiz" in Canvas. You can tell the difference between quiz types based on the symbol:

If your quiz is currently a "Classic Quiz", it is recommended that you migrate the quiz to a "New Quiz" by following these steps .

Setting Up Respondus Lockdown to give a quiz
1. Navigate to the course you wish to set up a quiz using Respondus Lockdown Browswer.
2. Click on "Respondus Dashboard" in the side navigation of your course.
3. Locate the quiz you would like to use Respondus with and click the down carrot.
4. Click "Settings"
5. Select "Require Respondus Lockdown Browser for this exam" and click "Save + Close"
You will see that the name of the quiz on the Respondus dashboard now indicates that it requires Respondus Lockdown:
It will also rename the quiz in Canvas:
If you intend to use Respondus Monitor (which students need to pay to use), make the following selections on the settings page:
Click on "Require a Respondus Monitor (automated proctoring) for this exam" and then click on "Save +Close"
Notes:
1. You can adapt the Startup Sequence to fit your proctoring expectations.
2. When selecting "Require a Respondus Monitor (automated proctoring) for this exam" the following screen will pop up. Click "Continue to Respondus Monitor" to continue and make your selections.
A tip for success:
To ensure your first exam using LockDown Browser runs smoothly, have students take an ungraded practice quiz that requires the use of LockDown Browser, before the graded exam occurs.
Leave the quiz available for the duration of the course, with unlimited attempts, so students can access it again if they use a different computer.
